What is the Move-a-thon? (Previously "Walkathon")
The Move-a-thon is our school’s exciting, fall fundraiser, and community-building event! Much like a walk-a-thon or fun run, the goal is simple: get all students moving for 30 minutes—together as a school. But what makes the Move-a-thon special is that we’ll offer a variety of movement stations so that every student can fully participate in a way that feels right for them. From dancing, stretching, the traditional walk, and other activities —every type of movement counts!
Changes this year
This year we are not counting laps and won't have bibs. Instead, the goal is to move non-stop within the 30-min time slot. Students will have many choices in participating one or all of the following stations: Dance Station, Stretch Station, Freeform Station, and Bubble Walk. We've also added more prizes and ways to win. Scroll down to Prizes section below for more details.
Why Are We Raising Money?
This is our biggest fundraiser of the fall, organized by the PTA to support vital programs and opportunities for all students. Our goal is to raise $20,000, which will go directly toward:
- Field trips and enrichment experiences
- Supplies and equipment for classrooms and P.E.
- Teacher grants to bring creative learning to life
- After-school enrichment programs
- And much more!
How Can Families Help?
Every dollar makes a big impact, and every student’s participation—whether by moving, spreading the word, or sharing joy—helps us reach our goal. Your support through encouragement, volunteering, or simply celebrating movement with us is equally valuable. Together, we can make this event fun, meaningful, and successful for everyone in our school community!
Fundraising - Students have the opportunity to collect donations from friends, family, and networks through an easy-to-use peer-to-peer fundraising platform and/or traditional cash/check collection. No amount is too small.
Parent Volunteering - The Move-a-thon is not a spectator event to attend, but you can volunteer! This is a big event, and your involvement helps build our community stronger. From the planning stages through the day-of-event, there are many tasks that will make this a successful event. Visit our Volunteer Page and sign up.
👟GotSneakers Fundraiser! (Sept 18 and 19)
Got used sneakers? Donate them to George Hall!
The Move-a-thon is partnering with GotSneakers.com to turn your donated pairs of reusable athletic sneakers into funds for our school (up to $7 per pair)! Drop off your gently used athletic shoes in the red bins before school at Main Gate and Library Gate on Thursday, 9/18 and Friday, 9/19.
All sizes welcome—kids, teens, and adults. Athletic shoes only. Must be in pairs. See flyer below for types of shoes accepted. Grab them from your friends and neighbors. Every pair helps!
